The successful candidate will lead a team of attorneys and be the primary legal advisor to the executive leadership, with a focus on a wide range of legal matters including contracting, regulatory issues, operations, growth strategy, product development, and risk mitigation. This role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly in the areas of managed care, benefits, and pharmacy benefit management. The Chief Counsel will also be involved in significant business matters, including audits, investigations, and the impact of new regulations and legislation. Applicants for the Chief Counsel position at the company should have a J.D. from an accredited law school, Bar membership, and at least 15 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, with a strong preference for those with a background in healthcare. The role demands a demonstrated leader with excellent team-building, project management, and analytical skills, as well as a strong commitment to providing high-quality legal service. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and pragmatic legal and business advisor, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization. Strong communication, critical thinking, and the ability to distill complex issues into practical legal advice are essential. The Chief Counsel will also be responsible for leading strategic projects, providing advice on mergers, acquisitions, and strategic alliances, and overseeing the management of outside counsel.
