The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the organization's philanthropic fundraising efforts, with a focus on maintaining and growing support for global editorial projects. This role requires a strategic and ambitious approach to increase philanthropic support, particularly in the areas of democracy, climate change, human rights, healthcare, social justice, and equity. The SVP will be responsible for developing and executing a cohesive fundraising strategy, building and stewarding relationships with foundations and individuals, and ensuring that the organization's journalism remains at the core of philanthropic support. A strong background in fundraising, at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role, and a proven track record of success are essential. Experience in journalism, media, or a related field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a clear and compelling connection to the values and mission of the organization, as well as the ability to work effectively in a complex, international, and mission-driven environment. Key responsibilities include working closely with editorial leadership to develop fundable projects, overseeing a team of direct reports, and managing the philanthropy budget. The role also involves leading the organization's nonprofit arm, including developing and maintaining the Board of Directors. The candidate should be a strategic and relational leader, with excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire and develop a team.
