This includes staying abreast of news, state legislature updates, and educational board meetings to forecast and communicate financial implications. The successful candidate will lead a values-based budgeting process, manage budget development, and evaluate spending requests throughout the year. Additionally, the role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial calculations, monitoring compliance submissions, and performing budget-to-actual analysis for the entire organization. The Finance Director will also lead strategic financial analysis, internal control for the accounting team, and present reports to the finance committee. Candidates for the Finance Director position must be local to Atlanta and hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, with an MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred. A minimum of five to ten years of experience in a senior finance or accounting role, particularly within a nonprofit setting, is required. The ideal candidate will be technology-savvy, with the ability to manage financial data efficiently, and have a proven track record in developing and monitoring systems to meet operational and financial deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels, both in and outside of the finance domain.
