The successful candidate will be a seasoned administrator with a strong background in equal opportunity, affirmative action, and civil rights laws, particularly in the context of higher education. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company's compliance with a range of legal and regulatory requirements, including Title VII, Title IX, ADA/504, and other civil rights laws. The AVP will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming community free from discrimination and harassment. They will also oversee the investigation and response to complaints, track trends, and compile reports as necessary. Candidates for the AVP position should have a Juris Doctor or advanced degree, with a JD strongly preferred, and at least 10 years' of related experience. The role requires a deep understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of subject matter experts. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, policy evaluation, and the implementation of new regulations, such as the upcoming Title IX guidelines. The AVP will also be expected to enhance university community relationships, leverage technology for efficiency, and ensure the office is well-resourced to meet the needs of the company.
