The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight and management of the company's internal and external legal affairs, including the formulation, review, and approval of policies and procedures. This role involves comprehensive risk management, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The General Counsel will also provide legal and policy advice to the Board of Trustees, the President, and other staff members, and act as the company's legal representative in various proceedings. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company must have a law degree from a regionally accredited law school, be admitted to and in good standing with the Florida Bar, and have a minimum of 10 years' of legal experience. The role requires a proven ability to provide legal counsel to executives, lead high-level legal strategy, and a strong commitment to integrity. Essential functions include strong contract negotiation and management expertise, overseeing legal matters involving faculty, staff, and students, and developing and implementing preventative legal strategies. The ideal candidate will have superior communication skills, the ability to interact effectively within an academic community, and a strong knowledge of higher education laws and regulations.
