The successful candidate will be a key member of the leadership team, driving revenue growth, and building the development department's staff and systems. The CAO will be responsible for creating and executing an annual development plan, managing a team of 12+ staff, and overseeing all development activities, including private and public funding. This role requires a strategic leader with a passion for philanthropy, a Bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 10 years' of nonprofit development experience, with at least 4 years' in a leadership role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in major gift cultivation, be a hands-on fundraiser, and possess excellent communication skills to inspire trust and enthusiasm from donors and board members. The Chief Advancement Officer will also be tasked with fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization, and will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to align fundraising strategies with the company's mission and operational needs. The role demands a critical thinker with the ability to question existing practices and adapt to changing environments, as well as a leader who can mentor and motivate staff to achieve ambitious goals. Experience in government funding and a background in marketing/communications are considered advantageous.
