The successful candidate will be part of a privacy team that addresses complex issues at the intersection of privacy law, technology, and life sciences research. Key responsibilities for this role include providing commercial support on data privacy matters, advising R&D and product teams on privacy-by-design best practices, and contributing to the Privacy and AI Governance Program. The role also involves maintaining awareness of global privacy laws, proactively advising on legal developments, and engaging in regulatory affairs. Applicants for the Senior Counsel position should have a J.D. and a minimum of 4 years' experience in advising clients on global data privacy laws. A core IAPP certification or a willingness to obtain one within 3 months is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the EU's GDPR and experience with emerging data privacy laws. While not mandatory, experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or equivalent industry, particularly in the areas of data privacy and regulatory compliance, is a plus. The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate with multiple teams, and experience in reviewing and negotiating data agreements. Membership in the New York State Bar or registration as in-house counsel is also a requirement.
