The CHS Hershey Safety Officer is driven to create a safe and secure environment for the children, staff, and visitors of CHS Hershey. This individual will patrol campus spaces and ensure that safety procedures are followed, and that precautions are taken when necessary. The Safety Officer reports to the School Operations Manager and provides reports on risks and issues. Starting pay for this position is in the range of $15 to $18 per hour, based on experience.Responsibilities:Checking doors and windows of all campus buildings to ensure they are secure and locked at appropriate timesPatrolling interior and exterior parts of campus and groundsEnforcing parking regulationsResponding and assisting employees and visitors with Safety concernsReporting safety concerns and placing work ordersResponding to calls from staff for emergency assistance, e.g. suspicious persons or vehicles inside and outside campusInvestigating suspicious vehicles on campusCommunicating with and acting as a liaison with local fire, ambulance, and police departmentsMaintaining visitor logs of those who come to campusResponding to fire and other security alarms on campusProviding access to rooms and buildings as neededDocumenting all security calls on patrol logsCompleting detailed incident reports and conducting follow-up investigationsEnforcing organizational policies and proceduresWorking with employees to promote a safe working environmentAttending regular meetings with other members of the department as neededConducting meetings to relay any changes to staffMaking appropriate recommendations for safety changes on campusEnsuring compliance with all PA State laws and local ordinancesFacilitating emergency evacuations on campusExhibiting positive relations towards children and staff when responding to questions and communicationsQualifications:Associates Degree in law enforcement or related field3+ years' experience in security or law enforcementCPR and AED (Pediatric and Adult) Certification Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organizationAbility to proactively identify problems and implement solutionsWillingness to be held accountable and receive feedbackComfortable with technology, Microsoft Suite, Outlook and school software systemsCommitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for studentsU.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
