Software Development Manager, EC2 Core Platform

Come join a team engineering core software supporting the massive AWS cloud. We are software engineers that deliver some of the core EC2 systems. Our team is part of the EC2 Core Platform organization and we work on low latency data distribution services.We are looking for an experienced software development manager who can lead a highly skilled team of software developers as we expand, optimize, and refine our service to manage our rapidly increasing scale and feature demand. We don't sacrifice one for the other.- You will have the opportunity to design and build systems with massive scale.Key job responsibilitiesResponsibilities include:- Direct management of the software engineering team- Strategic planning and execution to provide a 100% availability guarantee- Acting as an experienced leader who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the DevOps lifecycle, including design, automation acceleration, documentation, testing and operations- Be an advocate and drive optimization across the organizationBASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teamsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
