The associate - or VP-level Tax Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Tax Department in complying with all U.S. federal, state, and local tax requirements for Natixis North America, LLC, and its subsidiaries, primarily in the areas of tax accounting and compliance. He/she/they will be a key participant and contributor in various CIB Americas tax functions under the guidance of the Executive Director, Tax. Over time, the incumbent is expected to develop proficiency and assume increased responsibility in these areas.Key Responsibilities:Tax Accounting:Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740) under the supervision of the Executive Director, Tax.Monitor the accuracy of statutory tax rates and analyze any newly enacted tax legislation on a quarterly basis.Calculate book-tax differences and reconcile tax effects of differences between U.S. GAAP and IFRS bookings.Collaborate with accounting teams to facilitate the collection and analysis of relevant information.Calculate current and deferred tax positions and reconcile components of tax expense.Reconcile gross balance sheet timing differences and movements in DTA/(DTL) items, including deferred activities and valuation allowances.Assess and monitor the net realizable value of timing differences.Reconcile components of Current Taxes Receivable/Payable and verify ending balances.Evaluate uncertain tax positions and determine tax reserve requirements.Analyze and reconcile components of the effective tax rate.Reconcile cash tax payments/refunds to specific tax liabilities.Prepare and review return-to-provision schedules as part of the compliance process, and assist with the true-up and reconciliation for federal consolidated and multi-state returns.Populate Head Office tax reporting packages for individual legal entity tax provisions, adhering to mandated closing timelines.Assist in synthesizing information for periodic tax management memos and presentations.Support Head Office supplemental reporting and build relationships with key internal stakeholders and external auditors/advisors.Ensure adequate controls are maintained over all tax accounting and disclosure processes.Assist with integrating new structures and businesses while developing efficient processes.Monitor Accounting Standards Updates and implement necessary changes to processes and disclosures.Automate processes where feasible and recommend enhancements for greater efficiency.Tax Compliance:Assist with the preparation and detailed review of federal, state, and local estimates, extensions, and consolidated income tax returns for Natixis U.S. legal entities.Maintain a rolling tax filing calendar for periodic due dates and estimated quarterly tax payments, updating it for organizational changes.Prepare quarterly estimated tax payment calculations and oversee tax payment processing.Reconcile and document book-tax differences using G/L and other relevant information to ensure accuracy.Develop working relationships within the organization to foster collaboration and achieve objectives efficiently and accurately.Support the compilation of financial data and deliver materials to outside advisors engaged for tax return preparation, including ancillary forms such as Form 5472.Ensure that workpapers and analyses documenting support for all tax return compliance filings are maintained.Review U.S. consolidated tax returns to reconcile underlying detail support and ensure disclosures are accurate and complete, with knowledge of federal consolidated treasury regulations.Prepare and/or review partnership and other tax return filings pertinent to Natixis U.S. legal entities or Natixis NY Branch.Enhance controls over the tax return preparation and review process.Manage tax notices received from tax authorities as necessary.Monitor legislative developments and implement processes to comply with new regulations.Tax Audits:Assist in preparing written responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs) as needed.Maintain logs to track audit progress and open tax years.Tax Research and Special Projects:Support the Tax Department in evaluating transactions, new product committees, and financial products as needed.Contribute to initiatives aimed at implementing tax-efficient strategies and legal entity structures.Review tax classification for newly organized entities (e.g., corporation, LLC, partnership, or trust) to ensure desired tax treatment and assist with integration into tax accounting/compliance processes.Prepare summary memoranda of research and tax positions as assigned.Tax Information Reporting and Customer Documentation:Assist with information reporting and withholding requirements applicable to Natixis businesses and counterparties (i.e., payments to "foreign persons" and U.S. "customers").Support the preparation process for Forms 1099 and 1042-S payee statements, as well as Form 1042 Annual Withholding Tax Return for U.S. Source Income of Foreign Persons.Assist with FATCA compliance.Respond to counterparty requests via business units for Forms W-9 and W-8 as applicable.Other Responsibilities:Assist in updating and maintaining Policies & Procedures manuals for the CIB Americas Tax Department and ensure adherence to established protocols.Demonstrate strong organizational skills and administrative proficiency in supporting the Executive Director, Tax, with tax-related duties.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting; MS or MBA in Tax preferred.CPA is a plus.5+ years of tax experience in public or private sectors.Familiarity with U.S. consolidated tax returns and tax sharing arrangements is required; strong technical knowledge of tax and financial accounting concepts is essential.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other accounting/tax software.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and succinctly.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also collaborating effectively with team members.High degree of integrity and strong work ethic, with a commitment to timely follow-through on commitments and the promotion of best practices Natixis is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills set, applicable licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total rewards package. Natixis also offers a generous benefits package, and you may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award depending on company and individual performance.
