Utilization of the instrument tracking system to maintain adequate sterilization according to manufacturer's recommendations of surgical instruments & equipment. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: High school graduate or GED. Must be able to respond within thirty minutes to hospital for "on call" requirements. Certification required IAHCSMM or CBSPD Advanced certification(s) through IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred, or attained within four years. Workplace Experience: Three years previous central sterile work experience. Perioperative Care Equipment and Skills Training: The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic CS knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment for the following CSR specialties: Surgical equipment, instruments and trays; ASP Sterrad Unit, Steris Washer, Cart Washer, Small and Medium Steam Sterilizer; Network computer system; Censitrac instrument tracking system Physical Environment: A surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age. Physical Effort: Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs. Requires the ability to lift and move surgical instrument trays with assistance up to 50 lbs. Ability to work overtime or late shifts as required by the work load schedule. Weekend / Holiday call rotation required. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Assists the CSR director with Organizing, directing, and administering services in order to provide the highest levels of service and reduce a need for quick turnovers and IUSS Review needs list and surgery schedule to ensure all instruments are sterile and complete in order to support OR start times. Ensures adherence to IFUs and standards set forth by governing bodies. Work to completely assemble trays. Find missing items or request replacement. Thoroughly inspect trays and instrumentation in order to obtain the highest quality, reducing individual error rate. Maintains quality checks of equipment according to policies and procedures, including regular audits of staff load reporting Assists with control of the CSR environment, maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to sanitation policies. Practices cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved budget. Initiates corrective action for variance. Monitors Procedures, turnovers, and needs list in order to maintain a minimum IUSS Rate Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participates in the development of educational program for co-workers. Provides leadership & raising the level of performance of others while on the job. Develops staff to maintain a minimum Department Error Rate
