Salary$110k-$130k+ (+BONUS) Associate Attorney - Family Law FirmPosition Overview: The Associate Attorney at our family law firm will handle a diverse range of family law cases and provide compassionate, skilled legal representation to clients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.ResponsibilitiesCase Management and RepresentationManage a caseload of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and adoptions. Conduct client interviews and provide legal counsel tailored to the specific needs and concerns of each client. Prepare and file legal documents such as petitions, motions, affidavits, and orders. Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation, and settlement conferences, effectively advocating on their behalf. Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and experts to facilitate case progress.Legal Research and Strategy DevelopmentConduct thorough legal research to support case preparation, identify relevant case law, and develop effective legal strategies. Analyze client cases and create customized legal strategies to meet their goals while maintaining the firm's standards of ethics and professionalism. Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and contribute to the firm's overall success.Drafting and DocumentationDraft comprehensive legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, legal briefs, and settlement agreements. Review, revise, and approve documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal standards.Client Communication and Relationship ManagementMaintain regular and proactive communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments and next steps. Handle sensitive client matters with empathy, respect, and professionalism. Foster strong client relationships to promote positive outcomes and client satisfaction.Court Appearances and AdvocacyAppear in court to represent clients during hearings, motions, and trials. Present evidence, cross-examine witnesses, and deliver persuasive arguments to support clients' interests. Negotiate settlements when appropriate to resolve cases amicably and cost-effectively.Additional ResponsibilitiesStay informed about changes in family law and relevant case law to provide clients with up-to-date and accurate legal advice. Participate in firm meetings, training sessions, and case reviews. Contribute to a positive work environment and collaborate with team members to achieve firm objectives.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in the state bar 1+ years of experience in family law or a related field 1-5+ years of Litigation experience (family law preferred but not required) Strong organizational, research, and writing skills. Ability to handle emotionally sensitive issues with professionalism and tact. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Preferred SkillsPrior experience handling family law cases, including divorce, custody, and support matters. Familiarity with local court procedures and family law statutes.
