This position is responsible for preserving the good condition and functionality of the automation technology and equipment. Individual will perform maintenance tasks of a variety such as fixing automation machinery and conveyor systems. An automation technician should be a professional with a practical mind and attention to detail, while working autonomously and observing all health and safety guidelines. Must be able to demonstrate the skills needed to perform job description and requirements in a safe, efficient, effective, and professional manner without assistance. Must perform required job duties to a high standard of quality.EXPERIENCE:Must have two (2)+ prior work experience in Automation Technician experience. Two-year technical degree or equivalent certification related to automation technology.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Respond quickly in the event of an emergency and notify appropriate personnelAlways follow all safety protocolsSurvey building and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulationsMaintain automation machinery and conveyor systems to ensure functionalityTroubleshoot and repair facility equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components and return these systems to serviceabilityPerform required maintenance on systemsMaintain and troubleshoot automation conveyor systemsUtilize boom-lift and scissor lift to access building or equipment near the ceilingMaintain work orders and spare parts inventory in Go Canvas maintenance systemPreventative maintenance tasks including upgrading machinesWork with engineer to build processes to improve equipmentConduct tests to evaluate performance of automated systemsMust be willing to assist with various other maintenance tasksNote: Automation technicians are responsible for providing their own tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, socket sets, pliers and tool box.Qualifications/Skills:Must have excellent understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings to assist with troubleshooting equipment problems along with sufficient understanding to trace problems when prints are not availableAdvanced knowledge of electricity, hydraulic and other systemsExperience in conveyor systems maintenance in an industrial, manufacturing or distribution facilityElectromechanical skills, troubleshooting skills with PLC controls, servos, sensors and control componentsPractical experience connecting a maintenance PC to a PLC and stepping through and understanding the PLC program to troubleshoot complex control failures and make minor code changes under direction of engineering preferredDetail oriented with good problem-solving skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsFollow instructions/directions with minor supervisionSelf-motivated individual willing and able to take initiative as well as work in team environmentGood physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtimeCertification in building maintenance technology is a plusPreferred two-year technical degree or equivalent certificationTwo+ years of work experience as an Automation TechnicianMust be able to work around grease, oils and solvents without adverse reactionsMust have 20/20 vision with correction and be able to differentiate color to detect defectsCapable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, climbing, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
