Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.CalWest's client school in the Los Angeles area seeks a Sixth Grade Teacher to start in October 2024.QualificationsBachelors Degree RequiredMasters Degree PreferredCA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Required (Intern Credential accepted)(ELA) Authorization to teach English Learners RequiredCBEST, CSET, RICA passed test results preferred (In progress accepted)Job requirements: Teacher must live in the LA area or be willing to commute to the school daily as classes are in personTeacher must pass a TB testTeacher must pass a background checkTeacher must be enthusiastic and enjoy teaching childrenTeacher must have excellent communication and written skillsTeacher must have a current CA multiple subject teaching credentialTeacher must have EL AuthorizationTeacher must be authorized to work in the USAResponsibilitiesCreate instructional resources for use in the classroom.Regularly review student data and adjust lessons and instructional strategies to the needs of students.Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activitiesCreate a positive educational climate for students to learn in.Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.Conduct home visits for all students before the first day of school and maintain open communication with families throughout the year.Participate in ongoing professional development in the core curricula, sped, ELD, supplemental curricula, college preparation, classroom management, and discipline and diversity awarenessCreate lesson plans and modify them accordingly throughout the year.Grade Papers and assignments, maintain grade books and perform other administrative duties as needed.Utilize various curricular resources and integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.Develop incentives to engage students in the classroom.Develop professional relationships with other agencies health, dental, housing and nonprofit organizations and programs.Utilize public library resources.Work with the AP of Instruction and Principal to ensure initiatives are being met.Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and observe and evaluate student's performance.Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
