Position Description:This full-time position reports to the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinic (Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC) in the Division of Correctional Health Services. The Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC, located in the Kings County Supreme Court Building at 320 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY, is responsible for conducting court-ordered fitness to proceed evaluations under CPL Article 730 and presentencing evaluations under CPL Article 390 for criminal defendants with cases in Kings and Richmond Counties; preparing written reports in a timely manner for submission to the Courts; and providing courtroom testimony as necessary.Preferred Skills:Excellent diagnostic and evaluation skills with particular attention to issues related to forming opinions about psycholegal questionsExcellent forensic report writing skillsExperience working with forensic mental health populationsExperience in administering and scoring a wide range of psychological testsExcellent organizational and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively and professionally with other disciplinesProficiency with word processing programs and spreadsheet programsFluent in written and spoken EnglishDetailed Tasks:Conduct court-ordered evaluations of criminal defendants and submit timely written reports to the CourtsConduct psychological testing (intelligence, neuropsychological, personality, malingering, etc.) as neededProvide teaching and supervision for clinicians in trainingParticipate in regular supervision with the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECCActively participate in staff meetings, clinic quality improvement projects, and continuing educationRemain aware of and in compliance with organizational policies and proceduresFrom time to time, as needed, conduct CPL 730 and CPL 390 evaluations in the other FPECC clinics (Bronx, Manhattan, Queens)Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC or the city-wide Director of the Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court ClinicsQualification Requirements: Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; andTwo (2) years of post-licensure experience, one (1) year of which must have been post-licensure supervisory experience; or three (3) years of post-licensure experience; andCompletion of the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory training within three (3) months of appointment.
