Job DescriptionOur client, a respected community hospital serving one of New York City's most culturally diverse areas, is seeking a Director of Ambulatory Care to lead their Adult Ambulatory Care Department. This essential role combines operational and medical leadership to ensure high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care. The Director will oversee a skilled team, driving quality improvement, setting department standards, and working closely with administration to advance the hospital's mission. This role is ideal for a physician-leader passionate about making an impact in a hospital environment that values cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and continuous improvement in patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership: Manage all aspects of the Ambulatory Care Department, ensuring quality patient care, productivity, and satisfaction. Quality Assurance: Lead initiatives to enhance quality of care, safety standards, and patient experience through ongoing improvement efforts. Staffing & Development: Identify and fulfill clinical staffing needs; recruit, mentor, and foster career growth for physicians in the department. Operational Excellence: Develop and implement policies to optimize care delivery, productivity, documentation, and population health management. Physician Engagement: Conduct regular meetings with practice physicians, set performance expectations, and promote best practices aligned with hospital goals. Risk & Compliance Management: Handle patient complaints, grievances, and ensure physician fitness for duty, promoting a positive patient experience. Educational Leadership: Champion educational initiatives within the practice and support ongoing physician education. Strategic Initiatives: Act as the primary advocate for practice-related strategic projects, supporting organizational goals. Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between Ambulatory Care staff and other departments, fostering effective teamwork and communication. QualificationsMedical Degree required with New York State Medical License Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or Business (MPH, MHA, MBA, or MS) preferred Residency-trained and Board Certified in internal medicine or family medicine Prior leadership experience in academic medical centers or public health systems is highly valued Exceptional leadership, organizational, and project management skills High-level interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse hospital staff and external stakeholders Positive, supportive, and resilient under pressure Salary: The posted range is not a guarantee.
