Dispatch Operator 1

I. Position DescriptionAssigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight by performing the following duties.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCompiles list of vehicles. Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length of and purpose of trip, freight, and preference of customer or vendor. Monitors time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return. Investigates overdue vehicles. Directs activities of drivers. Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses.Confers with customers and vendors to expedite or locate missing, delayed, or damaged merchandise.Inspects to ensure compliance with shipping/receiving inbound and outbound specifications.Compiles information and completes the weekly truck mileage report. Generates driver payroll; submits weekly timesheets to HR/PR Coordinator on timely basis.Complies with all DOT, Environmental, Health, Safety and Housekeeping Programs.Assists with duties of Shipping / Receiving Clerks.Maintains vehicle maintenance and permitting.Maintains driver compliance files.Assigns job assignments to drivers.Performs other duties, as assigned or deemed necessary.II. QualificationsA. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTSShipping and receiving experience preferred.Excellent interpersonal communications skills; written and verbalExceptional recordkeeping and organizational skills.Detail-oriented with accuracy and speed.Strong math aptitude..Proficient computer and keyboarding skills; prefer Excel, Word and SAP.Good attendance, reliability record.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.B.
