About COGS' Client:An industry-leading engineering company specializing in turnkey automation and control systems solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their growing Power & Energy division. This company delivers end-to-end services for diverse industries, including metals, glass, and building products, among others. With decades of industry expertise, this team is known for its dedication to innovation, quality, and exceeding client expectations.Role Overview:The Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems critical to industrial infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols. This position requires expertise in power distribution, protective systems, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical power solutions with automation systems.Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):Conduct power analysis, load calculations, and design power systems for industrial facilities, including switchgear, panelboards, and switchboardsPerform power flow, harmonic analysis, and system stability studies to ensure system reliabilitySpecify and select key electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relaysUtilize design tools (e.g., Siemens Encompass, Square D's SE Advantage) for system design and developmentDevelop and implement protection schemes for equipment and personnel safetyCoordinate power system integration with automation controls, collaborating with mechanical and control engineersConduct short-circuit calculations to size protective devices and ensure system safetyPrepare technical documentation and reports for project deliverablesStay current with industry developments, including renewable energy integration and microgrid technologyEngage with stakeholders to align project requirements and achieve successful project outcomesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldAt least 3 years of experience in power systems engineering within an industrial or commercial contextProficiency in power system theory and familiarity with power generation, distribution, and utilization principlesExperience with power system analysis software (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP)Ability to perform short-circuit analysis and protective device coordinationProficiency in AutoCAD ElectricalKnowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., UL1558, UL891, UL67, UL845, UL 508A)Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skillsDetail-oriented, quality-focused, and able to work both independently and collaborativelyBenefits:Comprehensive insurance packages (medical, dental, vision)Disability insurance (long and short-term) and life insurance coverage401(k) with employer matchingFlexible work arrangements, including remote options for certain positionsGenerous PTO and holiday scheduleAnnual bonus opportunitiesRelocation assistance availableTeam-building events and company social activitiesAdditional Information: This hybrid position requires working in-office four days a week, with one day remote.
