Our founders - MIT and Wharton alums - are seasoned executives with a track record of founding and building unicorn software companies with an exceptional culture in product and engineering.ResponsibilitiesAvantos is seeking a backend developer with experience in AI to join our team in building the Avantos AI engine from the ground up. We're still very early so the work changes day to day. While the job title is AI engineer, this is more of a generalist backend role with significant AI components.The primary responsibility of this role will be building LLM-powered product features end-to-end. In addition to integrating with LLMs, you will be responsible for building data pipelines and backend services that support these features.Over the course of your work, you could end up working on other backend systems as well. Some example projects include:Provisioning and evaluating models for a new AI feature using AWS BedrockBuilding an end-to-end pipeline that ingests customer-client interactions (e.g. call transcripts), and automatically kicks off workflows based on the contentsQualificationsYou will play a large part in shaping our AI tech stack. We're looking for someone opinionated about AI tooling with an idea of what good looks like. The ideal candidate would have experience in the following:Prompt engineeringModel evaluation and testingBuilding RAG-based systemsData pipeline designExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience in the financial services industryFamiliarity with microservices architectureAs noted above, we're also looking for generalist backend skills. For the rest of the backend, we're built with Go on top of Postgres. Our full backend tech stack includes the following - experience with these will be considered a plus, but not required:Programming languages: Python, Go, TypescriptDatabases: Postgresql, PineconeAWS: ECS Fargate, AppFlow, S3, SQS, BedrockInfra as code: TerraformObservability: DatadogLogisticsPreferred location is New York City, but we are open to remote or hybrid work arrangements anywhere in the United States.The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $200,000 and we offer a generous equity package.
