POSITION TITLEDirector, Portfolio Management POSITION LOCATIONStamford, CT YOUR ROLEAs a direct report to Genworth's Head of Portfolio Management, the Director, Portfolio Management will be responsible for the management of key insurance business line portfolios. You will be responsible for evaluating and recommending strategic and tactical investment opportunities, primarily in fixed income. The position will be expected to influence strategy decisions for Genworth's $55B general account portfolio. The position will play an active role in the supervision of the portfolio in accordance with the company's unique ALM needs, risk-return objectives, and governing documents. The position will interact extensively with business line partners and asset class specialists. The ideal candidate will have a deep quantitative and analytical background and be a skillful conduit of solutions/ideas. You will need fixed income expertise, proficiency in asset allocation and ALM, creativity and strong communication skills.What you will be doingDevelop insurance portfolio strategy with focus on ALM, Stat income, risk-based capital and riskDesign strategies to support new business initiatives, legacy blocks and reinsurance transactionsCommunicate potential strategies, actions and results with key business partners and senior managementPrepare and deliver presentations seeking committee approval for key investment strategiesPartner with internal trading and research teams to implement strategy, making tactical adjustments in response to market and business developmentsClosely monitor and adapt to insurance industry and regulatory developmentsUnderstand strategy implications for asset adequacy testing performed by ActuarialIncorporate derivative strategies as neededManage portfolios to maintain compliance with investment guidelines and reinsurance trust requirementsWhat you bringBachelor's degree required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.10+ years experience working within investments and asset management organizationsDeep quantitative and analytical background; CFA and/or actuarial credentials strongly preferredStrong understanding of insurance, accounting, and regulatory issues that drive investment management decisionsSkills commensurate with holding a technical role in an insurance, insurance asset manager, or capital markets/sell side businessStrong fixed income knowledge including bond math, spreadsheet skills and facility with systemsAsset class expertise including credit, structured, private credit, commercial real estate, and alternativesDeep knowledge of the portfolio management process for an insurance company or pensionExcellent written / verbal communications skills and the ability to present effectively to leadership at all levelsStrong functional capability with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and BloombergEmployee Benefits & Well-BeingGenworth employees make a difference in people's lives every day. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 80% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
