Claims Representative Sr - Commercial Lines

Sentry is looking for a highly experienced claims handler, who'll be responsible for handling litigated and non-litigated claims with complex coverage, liability, and damages issues. You'll participate in settlement negotiations and mediations, actively monitor litigation including depositions, inspections, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials. You'll provide prompt claim investigation, evaluation and settlement or denial of claims with moderate to high complexity. You'll authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limit and document claim files with all pertinent information and disposition. You must be able to handle difficult interactions with empathyThis position will report to a Sentry office location or has the potential to work remotely from home.What You'll Do:As a Senior Claims Representative with Sentry, this position will be assigned to a Regional General Liability/Business Auto team, or a Transportation team.  You will provide superior claims handling by conducting prompt claim investigations, which includes evaluating coverage, determining liability, and settlement of damages. In addition, you will:Promptly investigate new claimsReview coverage forms and contracts to interpret applicable coverage then communicate the analysis to our customersEvaluate the facts and develop and execute plans to resolve claimsReview medical documentation to determine the value of bodily injury claimsDocument all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussionsNegotiate the settlement of bodily injury and property damage claims with claimants and their legal counselAssign appropriate defense counsel, monitor and approve litigation activities as appropriateControl expenses through close monitoring of litigation activitiesPay claims within assigned authority limitsPresent an overview of specific claims to customers and company associates as appropriateWhat it Takes:Bachelor's degree or related experience5+ years of related experience requiredIndependently handling caseload of litigated claims highly preferredKnowledge of insurance policies and coverage, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and familiarity with medical and legal terminology is preferredAnalytical skills to review, exercise judgment, and evaluate claims to make sound decisionsAbility to review and interpret complex and detailed documentsEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to maintain confidential informationEffective computer and math skills beneficialWhat You'll Receive:At Sentry, your total rewards go beyond competitive compensation.
