Job Title: DH - Site EHS Manager Client: Aerospace Industry Duration: Full Time Location: Phoenix, AZ 8504 Pay Range: USD 120,000.00 /hr - USD 130,000.00 /hr Qualifications Candidates Should Be Mid Level Management And Have A Manufacturing Background. A Site EHS Manager works with the Site Leader, Operations, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resources functions at a site level to ensure our employees are safe and to maintain compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, and drive the execution of the EHS strategy to create a culture of EHS excellence. The Site EHS Manager will report to the Site Lead with a functional dotted line to the multi-site lead. Challenges Within the role of Site EHS Manager, change management will be a major focus area. This will include, but not be limited to: Cultural Change Drive the transformation of the current EHS culture from compliance to culturally based. System Change Work with the Corporate Safety & Health, Environmental, and EHS Management Systems Lead to implement, review, update, create, and maintain the Corporate and Local EHS Management System processes and associated documentation. The ideal candidate for this role must act as a strong change agent within the site and be able to influence managers and employees to take appropriate actions. Must effectively communicate EHS risks and assist leaders in assessing and prioritizing these risks based on legal requirements and business objectives/needs. Must work closely with management and legal counsel to address regulatory compliance and liability issues. Minimum Requirements Education: At a minimum, must hold a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline: Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environment, Health and Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or an appropriate science-related field. Advanced certification, additional specialized safety education, and/or equivalent work experience are desired but not required. These may include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), NEBOSH Certification, etc. Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the environmental, health, and safety discipline with a strong focus on safety is required. At least 5 years of working in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional is required. Experience in aerospace preferred. Skills: Incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management. Strong technical and regulatory expertise in environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements, as well as knowledge of and/or implementation experience with applicable industry standards, including but not limited to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, etc. Ability for strong collaboration and proactive and creative problem-solving. Solid interpersonal management skills with the ability to build trust with all levels of the organization. Ability to communicate and obtain buy-in for EHS vision, strategy, and local plan. Must be comfortable in challenging the status quo and developing effective implementation plans and timelines to achieve goals. Driven, self-directed, and goal-oriented. Must have a solid work ethic and impeccable integrity. Ability to work independently with minimal direction or oversight and handle multiple tasks with the ability to switch priorities as needed. Able to exercise excellent judgment and possess a keen attention to detail. Ability to reinforce and improve the safety culture by working in collaboration with operational leaders and front-line employees. Must be successful in working in a team-oriented environment and be able to work effectively in a matrix organization. Proficiency in the English language required. Primary Accountabilities Coach site operations leaders to create a culture of safety excellence by implementing safety leadership systems, policies, procedures, safety campaigns, and programs designed to improve employee safe behaviors and eliminate, prevent, or control hazards/unsafe conditions. Drive incident prevention strategies, evaluate their effectiveness, and educate site personnel to improve their skills and competencies. Lead and drive the review, update, implementation, embedding, and continued compliance of the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Management System and any additional local EHS processes needed to effectively manage the site's EHS responsibilities. Ensure compliance with applicable local EHS Legal and regulatory requirements as well as any company-specified standards that exceed regulatory requirements. Serve as the technical expert and drive the implementation of the corporate EHS software systems to support compliance activities, tracking/reporting of EHS performance metrics, and the action management process. Facilitate, conduct, and/or advise on training, including the development of training materials (where necessary) to ensure employees have the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely, and facility compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Lead the investigation of all high actual/potential incidents and facilitate the root cause/corrective action (RCCA) with all key individuals within the site, and report findings as per the Incident Management Process. Provide support for medical and industrial hygiene programs. Work closely with Human Resources and Operations teams on pre-employment fitness for duty and return-to-work program evaluations. Manage the site environmental program including permits, all wastes as per the requirements of the Environmental Aspects and Impacts register, SPCC/Emergency response, regulatory reports, inspections, etc. Work closely with the Corporate Risk Manager, Safety & Health Lead, and external insurance firms to effectively identify and manage loss prevention issues and close out recommendations from their site assessments. Work closely with Corporate Engineering and site operations to ensure EHS is appropriately taken into consideration in the design and execution of capital projects. Supervise EHS consultants and contractors hired to perform EHS services such as industrial hygiene testing, fit testing, ventilation systems design/testing, sample collection, etc. Assure that consultants follow regulatory and company requirements.
