The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategy, development, implementation, and oversight of the program, ensuring adherence to the requirements set forth by various regulatory authorities. This role involves integrating privacy compliance into day-to-day operations, conducting data analytics, and developing targeted metrics. The Chief Privacy Officer will also be tasked with standardizing risk-based compliance reporting, monitoring the program's performance, and managing a team to improve the program's effectiveness. Additionally, the role includes the development and monitoring of compliance-related policies, procedures, and standards, as well as providing education and training for a diverse workforce. Applicants for the Chief Privacy Officer position must have a Bachelor's degree (Master's or JD preferred) and significant experience as a HIPAA/Privacy professional in a complex healthcare system, with a strong preference for those with exposure to academic medical centers. The role requires experience in leading a compliance team and providing reports to executives, committees, and Board members. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of privacy and compliance in the healthcare industry, particularly in the context of the Office of Civil Rights, Office of Inspector General, DOJ, and CMS. The Chief Privacy Officer will also be expected to partner with Human Resources to ensure the enforcement of standards and foster a culture of compliance and ethics.
