The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic, operational, and financial leadership to the Department, with a focus on building and enhancing its research and educational programs. This role requires a leader with a Ph.D., MD/Ph.D., or equivalent degree in the biomedical sciences, a national and international reputation as a world-class scientist, and a proven track record of securing extramural funding. The Chair/Director will also be tasked with leading the Institute, setting and executing a strategic plan, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Key qualifications include effective leadership, experience in building and leading multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the broadly defined field of immunological sciences, experience in mentoring and developing faculty, and the ability to communicate a compelling strategic research vision. They should be highly collaborative, inclusive, and possess an entrepreneurial drive. The role involves serving as a mentor, creating a setting for professional development, and representing the Institute on a regional, national, and international stage. The candidate should be familiar with national trends in medical education, have an operational skillset, and be adept at managing a budget.
