The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct underwriting and sales leadership, as well as agency management. This role demands a highly motivated individual with a strong background in multi-line carrier underwriting, particularly in the P&C Middle Market. The Managing Director will ensure the functional and regulatory integrity of the book of business, engage with agencies in the territory, and build strategic partnerships with key agents. Additionally, the role involves leading a high-performance team, driving underwriting execution, and inspiring the team to achieve operating plan objectives. Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a minimum of 8 years' multi-line carrier underwriting experience, with a preference for those with 2 years' experience managing middle market underwriters. Strong sales experience, including the ability to articulate the company's value proposition and negotiate effectively, is essential. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in setting and achieving goals, solid financial and business acumen, and the ability to manage change. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, and CPCU or CIC coursework is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the local market and competitors, and must be prepared for a role that involves 50% travel within the territory.
