Assistant Head of Lab Animal Husbandry About the Company Well-regarded blood center IndustryHospital & Health Care TypePrivately Held About the Role The Company is seeking an Assistant Head of Lab Animal Husbandry to join their dynamic organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head of LARS in the oversight and management of the vivarium, including daily room rounds, communication with the research team, and the administration of treatments. This role also involves monitoring and documenting the health and well-being of the animals, participating in training initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines. The Assistant Head of LARS will be a key individual in handling researcher compliance training and will be involved in various minor responsibilities as needed. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a barrier facility or a related area, a high school diploma, and supervisory experience. Certification in Laboratory Animal Science and AALAS is preferred. The role requires the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, maintain records, and provide for the care of laboratory animals in a humane and safe manner. The Assistant Head of LARS will also be involved in training new staff, maintaining inventory, and managing the procurement of husbandry supplies. The position demands a proactive individual who can recognize and report any animal welfare concerns and is willing to attend training programs to further develop their expertise in laboratory animal science.
