The CFAO will be responsible for advising the CEO, engaging with the Board, and partnering with teams to enhance internal controls and ensure the highest standards of financial management. This includes overseeing the organization's financial systems, budget preparation, financial reporting, and management of external audit activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to the organization's mission, and at least 10 years of financial leadership experience, with a proven track record in enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis. The successful CFAO will be a collaborative and strategic thought partner, dedicated to the mission of the company, and possess expertise in finance and accounting. They will be expected to lead a cross-functional team, shape a culture of financial accountability, and manage all finance and accounting functions. Key skills for the role include the ability to improve financial systems, develop dynamic financial and business planning models, and establish strong external relationships for fund development. The CFAO should be an effective communicator, a collaborative leader, and a relationship builder with a high level of emotional intelligence. Experience in managing grants, particularly government grants, and familiarity with financial reporting and donor-tracking software are also essential.
