The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing the organization's funding strategy, including prospecting and outreach to new funders. This role involves overseeing the development of fundraising collateral, serving as the frontline fundraiser and steward for all funders, and working with the CEO and Chief of Staff to leverage the Board of Directors in fundraising activities. The Vice President of Development will also support local Executive Directors to meet fundraising goals, provide team management and professional development for the development team, and ensure the growth of the team in line with the organization's expansion. As a key member of the leadership team, the role requires active participation in organizational decisions, effective internal communication, and a commitment to nurturing an equitable, inclusive, and team-oriented culture. Candidates for this position should have at least 10 years of experience as a development professional, with a preference for those who have led teams with annual budgets of $10M or more. Superior writing skills, the ability to cultivate and close funding sources, and a proven track record of fundraising from national foundations, corporations, and individuals are essential. The role demands a high level of collaboration, the ability to work effectively in a remote environment, and manage multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will be adept at working in a rapidly growing and evolving setting, comfortable with ambiguity, and bring new best practices to the organization. Experience in a role that requires cross-team collaboration and a commitment to the values of the organization's strategic vision are also key competencies.
