The Shift Lead should display knowledge of forklift operations and sort operations. This employee supports the Operations Supervisor in ensuring teams deliver superior customer satisfaction by driving results and exceeding expectations in the key areas of safety, service, quality, and cost. Specific responsibilities include directing the work of forklift and sort operations, including filling in to support the team as needed. Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and/or logistics environment is preferred.Major/Key Accountabilities:Provide hands-on peer leadership as a Shift Lead within assigned functional area, providing direction when needed, and troubleshooting.Ensure that all key processes - production, safety, and servicing - are understood by employeesSupports warehouse and forklift activities as needed, in between shifts or breaks.Serves as subject matter expert for designated area such as forklift operations and sort.Responsible for assigned production role duties and filling in for supervisor as needed.Coordinate inbound / outbound flow of product (forklifts and trucks).Support plant administration to ensure compliance to established policies and procedures; and enforcing policies and procedures to drive inventory accuracy.Working autonomously with oversight from Operations Supervisor.Coaching of employees that models the values and culture of the companyQualifications & Experience:Demonstrated internally and/or externally the ability to leadEffective communication with customers and employeesAbility to build consensusAbility to work cross-functionallyAbility to drive safety and create a safety consciousPrior experience in a plant leadership role in a manufacturing environmentWarehouse operations & Forklift operation experience requiredFast-paced, high-volume productivityProven track record of success and stability (1 to 3 years)Results-oriented and can meet deadlines and commitmentsFamiliarity with both OSHA and DOT regulations and requirements strongly preferredSkills & Knowledge:Communication SkillsDelegationShift PlanningInventory ManagementSafety First MindsetPhysical Requirements:Lift and carry 78 lbs occasionally, less than 33% of their work shift.Push items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.Pull items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.Education:High school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociates degree preferred or 2 - 3 years of equivalent work experience.Languages:Essential - EnglishDesirable - SpanishPreferred EducationHigh SchoolPreferred Level of Work Experience1 - 3 yearsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and we are committed to developing a diverse workforce in which everyone is treated fairly, with respect, and has the opportunity to contribute to business success while realizing his or her potential.
