Description Leidos Defense Systems, is seeking a talented Embedded Development Section Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. The individual selected for this position will be an engineering manager responsible for leading technical teams of embedded software and FPGA developers. The individual must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems. The engineer will work closely with electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.Primary Responsibilities Develop embedded systems utilizing FPGAs or SoCs through entire project lifecycle from architecture through deliveryProvide technical oversight and mentorship to team membersProvide technical input to program leadership during the planning and execution of engineering projectsGrow the team by supporting organizational hiring processesSupport organizational business development goals and initiativesPropose and implement ideas to improve organizational quality, agility, or capabilityPerform necessary reporting, approvals, and other administrative tasksThe ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth.Basic QualificationsCandidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.0 or higher GPACandidate must have 4+ years of career experience in embedded system design and test from architecture through implementation and hardware test or 2+ years with MS degreeCandidate must have 2+ years of demonstrated experience leading teams of developersCandidate must have proven experience with programming and/or hardware description languages such as: C, C++, VHDL, Verilog, assemblyCandidate must have experience with common communication protocols such as: UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN bus, etc.Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skillsPosition requires candidate to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teamsCandidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL areaPreferred QualificationsPreference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited universityPreference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:Personnel management including hiring, employee development, and staffing coordinationLeading technical teams utilizing Agile Scrum methodsEvaluating and implementing processes improvement initiativesProject management including cost and schedule oversightBusiness development activities including developing briefings, white papers, and proposalsOriginal Posting Date:2024-09-26While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
