Do you want to test how far your imagination can take you?If so, we are looking for you, our next Senior Electrical Engineer to work in San Diego, CA, as part of a small team to provide responsive, cost-effective InfraRed (IR) Payloads that are hosted on satellites in earth orbit. In this role, you will perform a wide range of design engineering activities that include concept development, architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and/or microcontroller designs. Activities also include printed circuit board layout, signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, hands-on component, assembly, board testing, system integration and debugging plus troubleshooting, technical trade studies, and evaluation of technology improvements. Begin your journey of a flourishing and meaningful career - share your resume with us today!Primary ResponsibilitiesWork independently from established requirements and use established electrical engineering processes to design, develop, and test modules, assemblies, and systems.Follow engineering standards and assist engineers in system, interface, and module development and documentation efforts.Perform analysis, design, and implementation of analog and digital hardware systems; guide the design through development and into production.Perform design of electrical circuits and cables, the selection, procurement, manufacture, use, and/or testing/screening of electronic parts and systems in high reliability applications.Provide recommendations on part selections maximizing reliability while considering cost and schedule constraints.Demonstrate technical expertise, project leadership, and application of engineering principles with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones.Collaborate with Systems, Optical, Mechanical, Software, and Integration & Test engineers to validate the electrical design and test of the Payload.Perform root cause analysis of electronics and/or integrated payload failures, and improve the design to prevent future failures.Analyze collected test data utilizing fully automated techniques.Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality and provide technical support for production issues within the factory as well as at our suppliers.Identify potential roadblocks and develop solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer first.Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 12+ years' experience.Hands-on experience with industry standard hardware design tools such as PCB design software, schematic capture, circuit simulation tools, signal/power integrity tools, and Atlassian Tools (Confluence & Jira).Experience with space qualified design, development, integration, and test of electronics and electrical components requiring radiation hardening, thermal and power constraints, etc.Experience interfacing with subcontractors and suppliers including generating detailed specifications and test requirements, providing technical guidance, and performing issue resolution.Experience in laboratories and cleanrooms using test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test hardware, in bring-up, integration, test and troubleshooting of electronic boards/systems and components.Familiarity with performing design trade studies and analyses to optimize electrical designs relative to performance, size, weight, and cost.Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other teams, customers, and/or senior leadership.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance. (U.S. Citizenship is required)Ability and willingness to work onsite in San Diego, California.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience working in small engineering teams.Space payload experience incorporating and interfacing with electro-optical sensors.Current and active DoD Secret clearance.Willing to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.Original Posting Date:2024-10-24While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
