Candidate must have personal experience receiving treatment for Mental Illness or Substance Abuse. The Peer Support Specialist is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include: Providing flexible services aimed at supporting, directly or indirectly, persons served. This position provides expertise that professional training cannot replicate. They often act as a consultant to other team members, helping them understand the persons' served perspectives and subjective experiences. This position has a high degree of personal integrity, generates positive energy, and makes a difference every day. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position. 2. Provide supreme customer services, always being courteous, responsive, professional, and helpful to the organization's internal and external customers. 3. Provide and/or assist with transportation related to personal care, community living supports, employment and/or planned activities. 4. Engage persons-served in problem solving, skill training, side-by-side activities, and monitor their well-being. 5. Assists with facility and vehicle maintenance, which may include indoor and out of doors tasks. 6. Participate in the Family/Guardian/Friends Liaison Program activities, building a friendly and open communication network with the natural supports of persons-served. 7. Document on the progress, or lack of progress, towards goals of persons-served at the close of each shift. 8. Adhere to applicable licensing rules, accreditation standards, Codes of Ethics, and New Passages' Policies and Procedures, including Corporate Compliance Plan and Personnel Handbook. 9. Adhere to high level of health and safety practices in physical facilities and with corporate vehicles. 10. Function as a team member and actively participate in team staff meetings. Educational / Talent Requirements: 1. High school diploma or GED required. 2. Personable, positive, and enthusiastic attitude, with capability to deal effectively with people (internal and external). 3. Ability to see the individual value of persons-served and staff peers rather than viewing them only through their organizational role. 4. Basic knowledge and skill in simple arithmetic, operating household procedures, basic nutrition, cooking, cleaning, performing routine household tasks and maintenance. 5. Firsthand knowledge of characteristics and conditions experienced by consumer population. 6. Ability to solicit alternate funding through donation solicitation and other fundraising activities. Work Experience Requirements: 1. Two years of related experience. 2. Certified Peer Support Specialist preferred. 3. Maintain a valid motor vehicle operator license. 4. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the use of technological advances that include, but is not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, NP Network, fax/copy machines, cell phones, etc.EducationRequiredHigh School Graduate or betterLicenses & CertificationsRequired- Driver's License
