Detailed Job DescriptionHelix Electric is looking for a detail-oriented problem-solving Fire Alarm Systems Installation Superintendent to join our team! You will be installing and maintaining a range of alarm systems, analyzing blueprints and plans, and finding and repairing any malfunctions. To ensure success as an alarm technician, you should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and experience with a variety of alarm systems.Description Of Duties & ScopeInstall and program control panels and all other equipment for fire alarm systems with the guidance of building plans and electrical layoutsMount sensors at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layoutsInstall all wiring to connect system components, complying with all applicable safety standards and with customer's concerns or preferencesShow customers how to use alarm system, discuss any questions or concerns and ensure customers are fully satisfied with the service they receiveInspect and test systems to ensure all components are performing well and comply with safety requirementsReview installation manuals, building plans and work orders to plan optimal locations for system components and wiringIdentify and repair malfunctions in system components or wiring, including ordering and installing replacement parts as necessaryCompose and submit documentation and reports for each installation or repair visit, complying with company's standard operating procedurePhysical Demands & RequirementsState certification in Fire Alarm & Detection Equipment or equivalentProficiency in alarm panels, including GE, Ademco and othersValid driver's license and clean driving recordTop customer service skillsNetworking experience with security, CCTV systems or otherComputer aided design (CAD) software knowledgeJob requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
