The Senior Domestic Tax Analyst is a role within the Domestic tax function of Sherwin-Williams reporting to the Senior Manager - Domestic Income Taxes. The position's primary purpose is ensuring that Sherwin-Williams and it's U.S. subsidiaries are fully compliant with U.S. State & Local tax laws and ASC 740 accounting. Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments. Job Responsibilities: Prepare & timely file complex worldwide, unitary, and separate company State & Local income and Franchise tax returns, annual reports, state modifications, tax credits, and multistate apportionment. Prepare extension requests and quarterly estimated tax calculations, while assuring that Sherwin-Williams is utilizing proper payment filing methods, payment methods, and optimizing cash flow results. Prepare the State & Local quarterly and annual tax provision computations and schedules, including SALT current provision, deferred taxes associated with tax attributes & timing differences, valuation allowance calculations and analysis, and SALT tax reserve analysis and calculations. Assist in Federal quarterly and annual tax provision computations. Work closely with other team members to ensure timely and accurate preparation of ASC 740 income tax calculations for U.S. income taxes. Preparation of annual Return to Provision and State Effective Tax Rate computation and analysis. Maintain the State & Local and Franchise tax accruals. Analyze all tax accounts and prepare journal entries to support proper balances. Prepare monthly account reconciliations related to the balance sheet and P&L tax accounts. Liaison with state and local government officials to assist with the resolution of state and local income and franchise notices. Maintain notice log, ensure proper documentation, resolution, and follow up as needed for rectifying issues on a go forward basis. Assist Manager - State & Local Tax Controversy with review and analysis of auditors' reports and take responsibility for locating and compiling documentation in support of audit information documents responses (IDRs) and auditor questions. Assist with state & local tax research and monitoring of legislative developments and analysis & implementation of new tax law requirements. Assist in the implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize cash and earnings impact of tax expense. Develop a network of internal peers for the purpose of optimizing the flow of information within the tax department and to identify and execute process improvement initiatives, including implementation of new technology solutions and systems to streamline various governance processes. Basic Required Qualifications: Education: Required: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance Preferred: Masters Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or MBA preferred Knowledge and Experience: Required: 3+ years of tax experience in a corporate state & local income tax environment or in a large public accounting firm with an emphasis in state income tax.
