AVP- Credit Underwriting Analyst Our client in Holyoke, Mass, one of the most admired companies in Western Massachusetts, is seeking an AVP- Credit Underwriting Analyst to join their team. This experienced position will independently analyze complex credit data and financial statements under tight timelines to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money, either for new loans or renewals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Evaluates the financial condition of applicants for commercial loans with the bank under moderate guidance. Spreads and analyzes the financial statements of borrowers and prospects, and primary and secondary sources of repayment, identifies risks, evaluates collateral, calculates cash flow, researches the borrower's industry and the economic impact of changes to market conditions while considering Loan Policy requirements. Analyzes data on new, renewal, and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other banks and bank files according to loan policy. Completes renewals and new/increase limit requests for ACH and RDC. Spreads and analyzes the financial statements of borrowers, computes ratios and recommends loan structures with consideration of policy and appropriate primary and secondary sources of repayment. This position is typically assigned more complex analyses and performs tasks independently. Orders and analyzes credit reports from credit reporting agencies (such as Experian). Under RMA guidelines, responds to credit inquiries on both borrowing and non-borrowing commercial accounts. May assist in training junior and/or new analysts to the department on systems and procedures as well as providing assistance to other team members for more complex assignments. Demonstrates professional discipline and knowledge to participate in customer calls as part of the information gathering team. May review appraisals for transactions less than $750,000. Assist the Credit Manager by maintaining and producing quarterly compliance reports and a variety of other reports about the commercial portfolio of the Bank for outside users such as Risk, Operations, and management including the BOD. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the bank's Credit Policy, and loan products and services. Completes all yearly compliance training and testing and complies with bank, federal, and state regulations. Complies with Bank Policies and Procedures. Adheres to departmental and bank-wide service. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Business, Economics, Finance or Accounting required; and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated related experience in underwriting C&I and CRE loans and exposure to a variety of borrower types and industries. Skills needed: Ability to calculate complex figures and amounts such as discounts, interest commissions and projections. Ability to write loan presentations, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, management, and customers. Strong knowledge of commercial credit products, market trends, and/or loan procedures, and loan policy. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Strong time management, communication, and multitasking skills Ability to research financial topics and present accessible reports on that research to colleagues with differing areas of expertise. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to form and maintain client and business relationships. Discretion and a dedication to protecting the financial privacy of clients, business partners, and employer. Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and the ability to adapt to and learn other software systems used by the Credit Department and Bank.
