We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges. Hartford Hospital: Our current Safe Patient Handling Mobility Lead opening is with Hartford Hospital, one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options that their patients require, they turn to us. The Safe Patient Handling Mobility Lead is responsible for the Hartford Hospital Mobility and Safe Patient Handling programs. They will be responsible for maintenance and progression of these programs to ensure compliance with hospital standards. The lead will be the liaison between the rehabilitation department and other departments across the hospital including, but not limited to, nursing, providers, quality, emergency medicine, and radiology services. The role will also include collaborating with various leaders through our Heart and Vascular, Ayer Neuroscience, and our Orthopedic Institutes. Day-to-day functions of the role include care team education through in-services and hands on instruction as well as participation with our Geriatrics, Nursing, and Falls Committees. The lead will serve as a consultant for reviewing and analyzing patient handling injuries in collaboration with the colleague health department. They will be responsible for developing initiatives to promote a culture of safety. Expectations will include dedication to improving patient and hospital outcomes. Qualifications o Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy from an accredited program o Active or temporary CT license in the State of Connecticut o 5-10-year work experience with acute medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological and orthopedic populations. o Self-motivated clinician with very strong interpersonal and communication skills o Demonstrates characteristics and independent thinking that reflect a commitment to exceptional patient care services and achievement of overall hospital strategic goals o An ability to effectively present and teach using various methods o Experience with Safe Patient Handling, Mobility and Ergonomic initiatives o Ability to work across disciplines within a health system
