Description Unleash Your Potential!The Leidos Innovation Center (LInC) is searching for an Optical Engineer to join our Electro-Optics (EO) Research Team in Dayton, OH. The successful candidate will utilize a strong engineering or physics background designing, testing, modeling, simulating, and analyzing the next generation of EO systems and concepts.If this sounds like an environment where you can thrive, keep reading! This position will support multiple simultaneous research efforts within LInC requiring skills including hands-on experimentation, calibrated testbed design, modeling and simulation of optical systems, and data manipulation and analysis. Addressing our customers' challenging mission requirements necessitates research and development of new capabilities as well as making improvements to existing systems.Your greatest work is ahead! The successful candidate will be called upon to develop new and innovative solutions to challenging problems. The engineer will work as part of an integrated team but should also be proficient at conducting independent research.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign, procure parts for, build, align and calibrate custom testbeds and test equipmentDesign and execution of electro-optical system testingPerform analysis of large data sets and develop tools for visualization and manipulation of the dataWork well in a small team environmentBe familiar with Linux, Windows, MS Office tools like PowerPoint and Excel, MATLAB, Zemax OpticStudio (or equivalent)Present project results to internal team for reviews, customers, and at workshops / conferencesBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline (optical, engineering physics, or similar) or physics with 2+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree in technical domain above2+ years experience in the electro-optical and/or infrared domainUS citizenship is requiredMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.Experience with lasers, broadband light sources, optics, electro-optics, detectors, cameras, calibration equipment, and diagnostic equipmentMATLAB and/or Python programming experienceOptical design software experience (e.g. Zemax, Code-V, etc.)Strong communication and organization skillsPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree (or higher) in optical engineering or physicsStrong statistics education or experienceExperience calibrating optical sensors for radiometric or photometric measurementsStray light analysis experience3+ years experience in the electro-optical and/or infrared domainLInCDaytonOriginal Posting Date:2024-09-12While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
