Roles and Responsibilities: Coordinates all internal and external activities relating to Newark Penn Station and Secaucus Junction Station, including all aspects of facility maintenance and real estate issues, lease administration, city, state and federal departments and regulating agencies, Amtrak, PATH, SEPTA, Marketing, Community & Public Relations, Security and Safety. Works with Superintendent-Stations to implement the vision of the Rail Stations department to all department employees. Delegates work to assigned staff. Coordinate with field management and staff. Oversees maintenance and custodial forces, as well as contracted vendors at Newark Penn Station and Secaucus Junction Station, for daily operation and for special events as needed, including coordination of coverage. Develops and implements policy and procedures for standardized maintenance, communication, customer and employee safety, security and customer service relative to stations system wide. Directs and reviews preparation of the Stations Department operating budget. Provides input to capital budgets. Plans, develops and implements the day-to-day activities of new stations coming online and/or the major rehabilitation of existing stations. Motivates, counsels, and conducts performance appraisals of subordinates. Education, Experience, and Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Business/Public Administration, Engineering or related area, or equivalent, and eight (8) years of applied progressive management experience in facility management. Thorough knowledge of stations operations, contract services and budgeting required. Thorough knowledge of budgets, labor agreements, and administrative processes required. Experience working for a railroad company preferred. One (1) year of closely related experience may be substituted for each year of Education required. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is desired. Familiarity with field work including 3rd party railroads, agencies, and municipalities desired. Working Environment: Office and Field Locations Physical Demands: Night and weekend work may be required and coordination for special events necessary.
