Role Overview Vermont Aerospace Industries, LLC is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join their dynamic team. This role involves setting up and operating CNC machining equipment, including turning centers, machining centers, and cutting technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. Key Responsibilities Setup and operate CNC equipment such as turning centers, vertical or horizontal machining centers, water jet cutting, laser cutting, and EDM. Sharpen tools or form corner radii according to drawing specifications; replace dull tools as required. Perform inspections, submit results to the Quality Control department, and report nonconforming materials to the supervisor. Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments, tools, and materials required. Interpret job documentation and instructions for standard and repair work with minimal supervision. Complete all necessary job and setup documentation. Install fixtures, vises, chucks, or open setups, locate starting points, and perform machining operations. Perform deburring and basic machine maintenance, ensuring a clean and safe work environment. Report daily labor, machine setups, and actual run times into the computer system. Work to minimize internal setup time and maximize production uptime. Skills and Qualifications Strong ability to interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, MIL specifications, and related documentation. Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, surface plate checks, inspection gauges, etc.). Knowledgeable in basic shop math and trigonometry. Ability to read and interpret CNC part programs and adjust offsets to meet part tolerances. Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality work. High School diploma or equivalent. At least three years of experience in an aerospace or precision CNC machining environment. Experience with castings is highly preferred. Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) is advantageous. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
