Learn more at Giant PicturesGiant Pictures and Drafthouse Films is seeking a Staff Accountant for its rapidly growing streaming and home entertainment distribution business. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the intersection of entertainment and technology in a pivotal finance and accounting role. The Senior Accountant will manage general accounting and financial processes of the company, being responsible for all daily accounting tasks, preparing tax documents and updating expense files. Perform financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, carry out relevant administrative duties (e.g. responding to clients via email and handling invoices). Ultimately, you will ensure that the company's finances run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have an accounting background in film, television or other media, with experience of content distribution, IP licensing and royalties. You will be detail-oriented, thriving in a dynamic, small-team environment where you can have a strong impact identifying pain points within the existing process and proactively building efficiencies and excellence in financial project management. Bookkeeping: Update master Chart of Accounts listing for additions/changes. Preparation of monthly close journal entries, including general ledger accounts, intercompany entries, bank reconciliations and client chargebacks/recoupments Assist current team to seamlessly transition from Cash basis to Accrual basis accounting Accounts Receivable: administer billing process, including fee reconciliation and client invoicing. Distribute aging receivables reports to management. Point person for revenue collections and past due balances from customers Accounts Payable: onboard new suppliers, review monthly fee and expense details - pull back up as needed and ensure proper coding of expenses. Royalties & Participations: support the Royalties Accountant by assisting with processing, preparing and calculating quarterly royalty statements. Analyze and process statement royalty data in accordance with contract terms. Review and track recoupable and invoiced costs and minimum guarantees including earn outs and payment collections Analyze current accounting procedures of the company and recommend improvements where necessary to include integration with, and optimization of, accounting, data, rights management, project management software packages End of year organization of all files including preparation of confirmations for audit. Point person dealing with external accountant for annual returns. Manage program/film asset and liabilities and monthly amortization across balance sheets 5+ years of Accounting experience in a film, television or media setting Experience of intellectual property licensing and rights, content distribution, royalties Advanced proficiency in Quickbooks and other accounting software Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's, SUMIFS, Etc.) Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Client service-oriented and fosters positive working relationships Well organized with strong time management skills and attention to detail, follows through on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Passion for movies and TV content and knowledge of media, entertainment and technology industries, including key players, growth trends and drivers, new business models Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferredCompensation: $65,000-$75,000 based on experience
