This person should be an active learner and driven by a desire to understand complex equipment. The position involves work on proprietary chemical process equipment design, specification, optimization, troubleshooting and procurement. The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering with their focus on static process equipment, such as heat exchangers and pressure vessels.Our Senior Mechanical Engineer will:Design and specify chemical process equipment to ASME, API and other industry codes and standards.Perform pressure design and heat transfer calculationsWork with chemical, instrument and piping engineers to develop new designsPrepare technical bid evaluations, review vendor documentation, and work closely with vendors through fabrication and delivery of critical equipment.Travel occasionally to global sites and fabrication shops to provide engineering supportUse analytical software and industry codes and standards to define equipment designsPerform failure reviews of existing equipment to propose upgrades, remedies and replacements.Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers. QualificationsBS Mechanical Engineering or higher degreeMinimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experienceTechnical knowledge of industrial equipment, specifically process heat exchangers and vesselsSkilled in developing equipment design drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent softwareExperience in reviewing design drawings created by others.Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.Familiar with applicable codes and standards, such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and/or B31, TEMA, ASTM & APIBasic understanding of metallurgy, welding and fabrication processesStrong analytical skills and experience with Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using ANSYS or equivalentEIT / PE license or willingness to obtain.Benefits:Base Salary: $104,000 - $133,000Competitive benefits packageHybrid work scheduleChance to work with a diverse team and experts in a growing industryCollaborative and innovative work environment with opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge projectsWhat's next?Once receiving your application, a recruiter performs an initial check between your skills and qualifications with our stated requirements prior to a detailed and focused review by the hiring manager.
