Brooklyn Yard Veterinary Hospital is seeking two (2) enthusiastic and detail-oriented individuals with a desire to learn and develop skills to join our veterinary hospital as full-time Certified Veterinary Technicians supporting 5+ veterinarians.Weare looking for the potential right candidate with the aptitude to manage our technical team as a lead CVT for our hospital (with additional compensation) in the near future.Founded in 2019, Brooklyn Yard Veterinary Hospital has quickly gained a strong following in Portland. We are an independently owned veterinary hospital in a sea of corporate clinics in the Portland area. Our practice supports both the physical and behavioral health of our patients which means we see a lot of puppies and kittens along with many patients who have veterinary phobias.This individual will be an integral part of our hospital and must have impeccable communication skills, animal experience/animal handling, the ability to multi-task, and the desire to provide the best in patient care.The right candidate must be committed to providing an exceptional client and patient experience. The ideal applicant must have compassion for both people and animals, the ability to anticipate client and patient needs, the desire to learn new technical skills, and strive to always promote a polished image of our hospital. Additionally, an applicant must be comfortable working with animals of all temperaments and comfortable with a high volume of sedations weekly.Position duties include, but are not limited to:Digital record keeping (our practice management system is Ezyvet)CVTs will be responsible for directing assistants and are intimately involved with surgical and dental procedures that are within the scope of their credentials.Patient handling and restraint with an emphasis on low-stress handling /Fear FreeMedication administration & filling prescriptionsVenipuncture & IVC placementDigital radiology (including digital dental radiography)Processing of laboratory samples for both in-house evaluation and reference lab serviceCleaning and maintaining of the treatment area and general hospital maintenanceSurgical instrument cleaning and maintenancePeri-operative and post-operative patient care under the direction of a veterinarianCaring for hospitalized patientsTackling projects as assignedSuccessful candidates will:Have excellent interpersonal and communication skillsHave a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, without sacrificing attention to detail or safety.Have a strong work ethic and will present a polished image of BYVHHave the ability to pay attention to the little details that makes a superior client/patient experience. Our veterinarians are Fear Freeâ„¢ certified and put a strong emphasis on low-stress visits for our patients. We manage many patients that have difficulty in a veterinary setting through cooperative care and pharmacologic intervention.Be inquisitive, ask questions, and know how to utilize resourcesBe a self-starting individual of integrity who is adaptable and accountableHave high emotional intelligence.
