Aircraft Composite Specialist TechnicianPosition Overview:A leading aerospace company is seeking an Aircraft Composite Specialist Technician to perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on composite aircraft structures. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and repairing complex composite components while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards.Key Responsibilities:Perform damage assessment, repair planning, and hands-on repairs on composite aircraft structures.Fabricate, repair, and assemble composite components following engineering specifications.Utilize advanced composite repair techniques, such as scarfing, bonding, and patch repairs.Operate and maintain vacuum bagging systems, autoclaves, and ovens to ensure proper material processing.Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspections to assess damage and ensure adherence to quality standards.Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and repair manuals to execute precise repairs.Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and recommend performance improvements.Follow strict safety protocols while handling hazardous materials and working in confined spaces.Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and part replacements.Stay up to date with advancements in composite materials and repair technologies.Qualifications:5+ years of experience in composite repair and fabrication, preferably in the aerospace industry.High school diploma or GED; additional certifications in composite repair or aerospace standards preferred.Strong knowledge of composite materials, resins, and bonding agents used in aviation.Proficiency in using hand tools and composite repair equipment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering instructions, and FAA guidelines.Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for composite structures.Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across various teams.Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.Physical ability to lift 10-35 pounds, work in confined spaces, and handle hazardous materials.Bonus Qualifications:Experience with FAA aircraft certification requirements, including Part 23 certification.Advanced certifications in composite repair techniques or NDT methods.Knowledge of sustainable practices in composite manufacturing.Experience with new product development for composite aviation structures.Completion of advanced training in composite manufacturing and repair techniques.This is an exciting opportunity to apply your composite expertise in an aerospace environment focused on innovation and high-performance aircraft structures.
