Lending Operations Project Manager/ConsultantLarge Banking ClientDuration: 12 months - with potential to extend up to 24 and/or convert FTELocation: Charlotte, NC or New York, NY Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 RemoteTop 3 requirements:Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage projects with a focus on structure, timelines, and detail.Consulting Experience: Experience in management consulting, with an emphasis on business operations.Capital Markets/Lending Background: Worked in CIB or capital management, commercial/corporate lending lifecycle, loan/banking operations and/or syndications.Effective Communication: Ability to provide strategic insights and engage stakeholders at all levels.Fast-Paced Environment: Experience in dynamic settings with a strong sense of urgency.Plusses:Preferred experience in wholesale lending (retail banking is not the right fit).Strong writing skills or a journalism background.(The ideal candidate will be a doer and problem solver, someone who excels at leading efforts, making informed decisions, and engaging in necessary conversations to push projects forward. Candidates with experience in capital optimization processes and an understanding of how banking capital works will have a shorter learning curve).Job Description:The Capital Optimization team focuses on enhancing the efficiency of the balance sheet to drive impactful lending solutions. The mission is to streamline the lending process to facilitate the quick and effective generation of loans while managing risk and maximizing capital utilization. This role involves analyzing capital allocation strategies, improving operational workflows, and developing best practices that align with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, such as risk, legal, and compliance teams, to design and implement processes that enable timely, data-driven decisions regarding loan syndications and capital management. This position plays a pivotal role in building streamlined playbooks, optimizing cash reserves, and working toward establishing a loan hedging desk to support strategic objectives. Contributions will be essential in freeing up capital for additional deals, ultimately driving profitability and operational excellence in lending practices. Ideal candidates will have a passion for transforming financial operations and enhancing efficiency in commercial banking.Lead multiple projects or workstreams focused on capital optimization and deployment, owning the end-to-end process.Analyze capital allocation and loan offset amounts to identify opportunities for enhancing lending capacity and freeing up capital.Work with various teams (Business, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance) to improve data collection, reporting processes, and decision-making frameworks.Create and maintain a multi-year roadmap of strategic capabilities, ensuring alignment with business strategies and regulatory requirements.Regularly update stakeholders on project statuses, highlight key metrics, and communicate effectively regarding ongoing project challenges and solutions.Design and implement streamlined processes, including loan hedging desks and compliance mechanisms, to enhance operational efficiency in lending practices.Drive decision-making and issue resolution in complex situations that require an in-depth understanding of corporate lending products and strategies.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
