A global power distribution systems company is seeking an Application Engineer to join their team. The purpose of this role is to provide prospective clients with technical consulting during the pre-sales process, to support the sales team and better position the company to win project bids.Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of electrical power distribution and management systems in commercial / industrial settings, as well as the communication skills necessary to sell the company's products and services against competitors in the marketplace. Through a combination of deep technical knowledge and customer-oriented problem-solving skills, the Application Engineer will develop a keen understanding of the specific needs of each prospective client and will be able to recommend company solutions to make their vision into reality.Key Responsibilities:Visit engineering firms to present the company's products and services to consulting engineers and clients, developing layouts and budget pricing as necessaryProvide technical support throughout the sales process to make sure each project satisfies the customer's specifications, frequently meeting with clients to ensure clarity and timeliness, and provide suggestions to increase the company's chances of winning bidsReview drawings and specifications for customer specifications and compliance, and maintain quality control and quality assurance standards throughout the pre-sales and execution processDevelop and maintain a list of accounts and key individuals, while being mindful of the company's overall growth strategies, targeting electrical consultants and end-users for the company's products,Work with prospective clients to influence project specifications towards the company's productsProvide internal input to R&D teams on industry trends, competitors, and customer demandDevelop technical presentation and documentation materialProvide estimations and quotationsCoordinate short circuit and arc flash studies, review relay settings and support field technicians as neededOther duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institutionA minimum six (6) years' of experience in design, application, or sales of power distribution productsAble to travel as needed (up to 40%)Expert knowledge of electrical power distribution, quality, control, reliability, and monitoringExperience in business development and account managementExceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear and concise languageWhile performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 15 pounds, lift in excess of 15 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear.
