Their expertise spans utility-scale power generation, grid integration, and innovative energy solutions to support a reliable and sustainable energy supply.About Role:The Director of Preconstruction South is responsible to lead a team of Preconstruction Project Managers to prepare and optimize solar, wind, and energy storage projects for the South Region for build ready construction from early development to handover to construction team. Supports the South Region Development team to meet critical development timelines by driving engineering, procurement, permitting, interconnection, construction planning, and other activities as needed to achieve FID. Supports the Project Execution team by ensuring the project is build ready ahead of mobilization, and is able to meet capex and schedule requirements.Job Responsibilities:Provide day to day management of the PreConstruction team including:Resource planning: develop and periodically update a resource plan to ensure team is staffed to a level necessary to complete all required tasksProject assignment: assign team members to projects based on capacity, capabilities and needs of the projectPerformance management: provide oversight into work being completed by each team member. Provide coaching and feedback to ensure high quality and timely outputs. Co-develop development plans to continue to improve team capabilities and progress individuals within the organizationProblem solving and issue resolution: provide problem solving support for the team to address any issues, and step in to directly support where issues are not able to be resolved at the working team level. Escalate issues as appropriate to leadershipManage internal relationships with Development, Execution, Engineering, Procurement, I&V, etc.Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the VP of South Development and the rest of the Development team. Provide a high level of support to enable the Region to meet and exceed development targetsDevelop and maintain a strong working relatinohsip with the SVP of Execution, VPs of Execution and their teams. Provide a high level of support to enable Execution to meet targets. Provide inputs to allow Execution to resource plan, and facilitate a successful handover of projects from PreConstruction to DevelopmentDevelop and maintain a strong working relationship with leaders in critical support funcations such as engineering, procurement, transmission, I&V. Ensure the teams are working well together to achieve the development and execution targetsManage relationships with 3rd party contractorsProvide leadership and oversight for relationships with all 3rd party contractorsProvide guidance and oversight to negotiations with contractorsProvide input into vendor scorecards / performance dialoguesProvide technical knowledge, experience, and oversight for projectsProvide deep technical knowledge in preconstruction activities for Solar, Wind and BESS projectsLeverage experience to identify opportunities to improve cost and schedule, project risks and opportunities to de-risk projects ahead of FID and mobilizationProvide oversight for projects especially during critical decision points (e.g., FID) ensuring risks are properly communicated and mitigated where possible. Review and project documentation for accuracty and completenessDrive continuous improvement in the PreConstruction TeamLead documentation of day to day work processes, onboarding of new team members and ongoing training to continue to build capabilities within the teamCapture lessons learned and ideas from each project and the team, lead initiatives to improve projects and processes based on the learningsAct as an initiative owner for cross-functional initiatives to drive improvements across the organization.Qualifications:Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred. Extensive experience in the construction industry managing projects and specifically renewable enery projects will also be consideredA minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 8 years' experience; or equivalent experienceStrong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationshipsDemonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables spaceExcellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and TeamsStrong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlinesStrong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverablesAbility to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a teamMotivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgroundsResponds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachableIs detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business conceptsThis position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other office and field locationsMust be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of timeIf you are interested and want to learn more about the client, Kindly apply.
