Full Time Junior Staff Accountant

Dean & Company Strategy Consultants, a strategy consulting firm located in McLean, VA with affiliates in the energy trading (DC Energy Management) and investment industries (DC Investments Management), seeks a Junior Staff Accountant to join its team. The position will perform accounting functions as part of a unified team supporting all businesses.The Junior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounts payable processes and fixed asset administration, as well as performing certain monthly close duties and other related tasks. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently as well as with others, and have strong attention to detail. They should be flexible and comfortable working in a mid-sized company environment. This position reports to the CFO, but they will regularly work with two other accounting team members.Responsibilities: Manage vendor invoice retrieval and organizationSupport the preparation of biweekly ACH runsAdminister the firm's fixed asset inventory and prepare monthly journal entriesPrepare account reconciliationsPrepare certain monthly closing journal entriesEstablish, modify and document accounting proceduresOther duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor's degree in AccountingStrong knowledge of accounting principlesDemonstrates strong understanding of Microsoft ExcelStrong problem-solving skillsHigh degree of ethicsHard working with intellectual curiosity and the desire/ability to learn rapidly Well organized and detail orientedExcellent written and verbal communication skills
