Senior Tax Manager - Indirect and Telecom Taxes

Five9 is expanding its Tax Team by adding a position for Senior Tax Manager - Indirect and Telecom Taxes. The Senior Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tax and regulatory-related functions, including sales, use, telecommunication taxes, along with various regulatory surcharges and fees.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead indirect tax compliance and tax controversy mattersResearch complex tax issues and prepare technical memo on issues and positionWork with Tax Team members and third-party preparer to manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual transaction tax filingsPrepare and/or review various telecommunications gross receipts tax returns, or other internally-prepared filingsReview in-house prepared Canada GST/HST and provincial returnsPrepare and/or review tax accrualsPrepare state and federal telecommunications regulatory filings, including 499-A/Q, State PSC and Canada CRTC filingsManage tax compliance calendarManage customer State and Federal exemptionsReview customer and vendor agreements to analyze US Indirect tax matters and support Billing, Sales and Legal as needed for tax information/validationUnderstand Five9 products and assign appropriate tax codes to new product SKUsManage all tax audits, including timely responses to auditor requests, defending Five9s tax positions with technical research or external counsel as neededQualificationsBachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business AdministrationMasters degree in Taxation and/or CPA a plus10+ years Indirect tax experience in relevant industry and/or public accountingStrong knowledge of tax compliance requirements in SaaS and telecommunications industriesAbility to collaborate with cross-functional business partnersHands on, quick learner with excellent analytical and critical thinking skillsExcellent communication skillsWork Location: This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office is required.As part of our continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Five9 supports pay transparency during the entire recruitment process.
