This position presents a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work in a dynamic environment in our beautiful downtown Minneapolis office. The successful candidate we desire will play a pivotal role in expanding our structural engineering business practice, acquiring and retaining clients, guiding our projects priorities, and ensuring top-notch structural engineering solutions are delivered on time and within budget.Responsibilities:Provide proactive and strategic leadership for Alliants structural engineering department, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project deliverables are successfully achieved within the business sectorAssume responsibility for client development, strategic project implementation, and organizational planning and leadershipEstablish and maintain strong client relationships with new and existing clients in the regionMaintain a strong focus on business development and marketing for both new and existing clients to drive performance of the business and strategically grow our market sharePrepare proposals and qualification statements for new contractsIdentify and establish teaming strategies and partnerships with other consulting engineering firmsWork collaboratively with other departments and engineers on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projectsPrepare scopes and budgets for structural work, monitor project progress, and complete projects within the established budgetPerform reviews of engineering design plans, calculations, and special provisions to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standardsMeet with various Federal, public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of engineering/construction challenges and programsUphold our commitment to excellence by conducting rigorous Q/A-Q/C of projects, supervising structural designers, and coordinating with sub-consultantsMentor staff to support their growth and professional developmentManage and provide performance, guidance, and leadership to assigned staffRemain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practicesCollaborate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical and other disciplines to deliver high-quality project deliverablesIdentify and coordinate client-oriented professional organizations and events for staff participationQualifications:Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with MN PE License15+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering business development, marketing, project management, and designComprehensive understanding of and experience in marketing and strategic business development within the Structural engineering sectorEstablished networks and contacts in the A/E/C sector, including DOTs, counties, and cities in and around MinnesotaStrong project management background, both on structural and multidisciplinary projectsSound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practiceEffective self-leadership with attention to detail, results oriented, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with employees effectively, persuasively, and tactfully at all levels of the organizationAdvanced proficiency with structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issuesStrong working knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organizationStrong working knowledge of structural analysis software such as CSiBridge, LARSA 4D, MIDAS, STAAD, Bentley OpenBridge Designer as well as Bentley OpenRoads CAD softwareStrong knowledge of AASHTO and MnDOT LRFD bridge design policies and proceduresExcellent analytical and problem solving capabilities, organization and multitasking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail with outstanding analytical, multitasking, and judgement capabilitiesPreferred Qualifications:A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizationsBridge ratings experience in AASHTOWare BrRMnDOT Bridge Inspection Team Leader
