EASTERN EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEMS OVERVIEWEastern Exterior Wall Systems (EEWS) designs, fabricates and installs exterior walls on buildings throughout the Middle-Atlantic Region. EEWS is one of two construction operating companies that is owned by Marcon Enterprises, a third-generation family owned and operated holding company, based in Allentown, PA. All EEWS employees work in the new Allentown plant. CHIEF ENGINEER POSITIONThe position is responsible for timely design engineering output of the Engineering group, management of outside consulting engineers, and successful personnel performance within the group. The position provides key support for EEWS product design, shop drawings, panel sketches, details, and schedules of product components. Engineering output is provided to internal customers such as manufacturing, sales, and project management, and external customers such as Construction Managers/Architects/Wall Consultants. The position includes daily coordination with the Design and Drafting group to ensure that the proper engineering information is provided to keep the designers/drafters on schedule.The position is also responsible for researching the best available hardware and software technology and use processes available and integrating into EEWS's operating systems and procedures with the approval of senior management.The Chief Engineer reports directly to the Director of Design and Drafting. The goal is to have the Chief Engineer start in April 2025 and work with the current Chief Engineer as he transitions to retirement.RESPONSIBILITIESEngineering ProductionContinuously strive to develop and improve prefabricated panel design and system performance.Continuously develop and record best practices.Personally develop the design load statement for the Project.Provide technical input, review, approve, and personally prepare accurate and thorough calculations supporting EEWS's panel framing designs, connections, including glass and aluminum, windows, building attachments, and system cladding components for review and approval by the internal project team and Project EOR and Wall Consultant. Stamp/Seal calculation sets. Distribute to and follow up with the Project Team and EOR as necessary.Personally review Project contract drawings, specifications, and relevant shop drawings to assure compliance with Project requirements and applicable codes.Develop standard engineering formats and procedures using Revit.Analyze, develop solutions, and approve field modifications that may vary from approved shop drawings.Periodically visit job sites and the manufacturing area to assure compliance with approved shop drawings.Personnel ManagementActively manage the day-to-day performance of engineering personnel and outside consulting engineers to optimize output consistent with the Workflow plan to optimize quality, accuracy, and timeliness.Nurture harmony and cohesiveness to foster a collaborative team-oriented environment with peer groups in manufacturing and design and drafting.Develop a training program to continually develop the capability and skill of engineering personnel.Maintain competence through continuing education and updating knowledge of codes and standards.Maintain a "lessons learned" diary for each project to be shared with the project team and used for growth and development.Proactively interact with Wall Consultants and technical vendor representatives to develop new manufacturing standards.QUALIFICATIONSProfessional registration in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.Proficient in RISA Structural Analysis and Revit.Working within an environment that requires integration between design/drafting and other functional areas of the business.Minimum of eight years' hands-on engineering design and detailing experience in prefabricated curtain wall exterior wall systems.Understanding of architectural or structural drawings and window, curtain wall, louver, steel, or concrete shop drawings, required.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Able to be a creative thinker and devise clever solutions to complex problems.Able to train and coach others.Organized, detail orientated and able to follow verbal and written instruction with minimal supervision.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Able to represent the Company professionally, ethically and accurately.COMPENSATIONThe company provides attractive competitive compensation, and generous benefit package, including incentive opportunity.CONTACT INFORMATIONFor confidential consideration, send a resume that summarizes relevant professional experience and salary requirements to: Mary Ann Martinez, Human Resources Manager, Marcon Enterprises, 645 W.
